Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta North Senatorial District have declared full support for the creation of Anioma State, describing it as a move rooted in equity, fairness, and political balance within Nigeria’s federal structure.
In a letter dated November 3, 2025, addressed to the Chairman of the Senate Subcommittee on State Creation, Hon. Mohammed Tahir Monguno, the APC Delta North Chairman, Prince Adizue Eluaka, stated that the zone was “fully and unequivocally in support” of the creation of Anioma State.
Eluaka noted that the South-East geopolitical zone currently has five states — one less than other zones — and argued that the new state would correct regional disparities and strengthen representation in the National Assembly.
He added that the creation of Anioma State would further enhance unity and development in the region while aligning with the long-standing aspirations of the Anioma people.
Support for the proposed state has also been voiced by traditional leaders, youth organisations, and civil society groups across the Delta North region. The Senate Committee on State Creation is expected to continue its review of pending proposals in the coming weeks.
