A long-awaited heavyweight clash between Britain’s biggest boxing stars is drawing closer, as former world champion Tyson Fury has confirmed plans to return to the ring on August 1 in Dublin.
Fury announced his comeback on social media, posting a training video from Thailand with the caption: “Let’s go August 1, Dublin, Ireland,” signaling his return after a period of inactivity and renewed focus on a potential blockbuster fight later in the year.
The August bout is expected to feature on a card being arranged by veteran promoter Frank Warren, though Fury’s opponent has not yet been confirmed. Reports suggest potential opponents are being considered as he builds momentum toward a major showdown.
On the other side, long-time rival Anthony Joshua is also preparing for his return, with a scheduled fight on July 25 in Riyadh against Albania’s Kristian Prenga. The bout marks Joshua’s comeback after a challenging period away from the ring.
Both fighters are widely expected to move toward a high-profile “Battle of Britain” later in the year, potentially in November, depending on their performances in these tune-up fights.
Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn has previously indicated that negotiations for the mega-fight are effectively in place, increasing excitement among boxing fans worldwide as anticipation builds for one of the sport’s biggest possible clashes.
