Gov Eno reaffirms commitment to Healthcare Reform, Partners Rotary International

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening the healthcare sector through strategic partnerships with international organizations, including Rotary International and the Rotary Foundation.

Speaking during a courtesy visit by Rotary leaders led by Trustee Chairman Holger Knaack, Governor Eno said the collaboration under the Rotary Healthy Communities Challenge aligns with his ARISE healthcare initiative, which prioritizes maternal health and child survival.

He expressed gratitude for Rotary’s selection of Akwa Ibom as a pilot state, noting that his government has already built and renovated healthcare facilities across the 31 local government areas. He also highlighted the ongoing construction of an International Medical Centre — the state’s largest single health-related investment — designed to position Akwa Ibom as a hub for medical tourism in West Africa.

Rotary officials, including Country Lead Dele Balogun, said their team will support the state’s health programmes through training, free medical outreach, and awareness campaigns aimed at reducing child mortality from preventable diseases such as malaria, pneumonia, and diarrhoea.

The meeting concluded with Holger Knaack decorating Governor Eno with the Rotary pin, symbolizing partnership and service. The delegation later toured the ARISE Palm Resort, commending the Governor’s vision for integrating tourism and public health development.
