Niger State has concluded preparations to commence the airlift of intending pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj from Minna Airport, in what officials describe as a major step toward ensuring a smooth and well-coordinated pilgrimage exercise.

The development follows an inspection of facilities at the Minna Hajj Camp by the Emir of Agaie and Amirul Hajj for 2026, Yusuf Nuhu, alongside the Executive Secretary of the Niger State Pilgrims’ Welfare Board, Muhammad Awwal Aliyu. The visit was aimed at assessing the level of preparedness ahead of the commencement of airlift operations scheduled to begin next week.

Speaking after the inspection, the Amirul Hajj expressed satisfaction with the state of facilities and the overall readiness of the camp, noting that the progress achieved reflects deliberate planning and coordination by the board. He commended the quality and pace of work, emphasizing that the arrangements in place would support a seamless and spiritually fulfilling journey for pilgrims.

The inspection covered key operational areas, including accommodation facilities, medical services, water supply, screening points, and holding areas designed to manage the movement and welfare of pilgrims efficiently. Officials highlighted that these components are critical to ensuring safety, comfort, and proper coordination throughout the pre-departure process.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment, the board’s executive secretary assured that comprehensive measures have been implemented to safeguard the wellbeing of all intending pilgrims, from departure to their stay in Saudi Arabia. He added that logistics, healthcare, and security arrangements have been strengthened in line with national and international standards.

The planned airlift from Minna Airport is expected to ease travel logistics for pilgrims from Niger State, reducing the need for long-distance movement to other departure centres. Authorities say the initiative underscores the state government’s broader commitment to improving pilgrimage management and enhancing the overall experience for participants.
