Tinubu arrives In Rome for Aqaba Security summit

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in Rome, Italy, to participate in the Aqaba Security Summit, a high-level global forum convened to strengthen multilateral cooperation against terrorism, cyber threats, and transnational crime.

The summit, initiated by Jordan’s King Abdullah II, brings together leaders from Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and North America to coordinate strategies against global security challenges. President Tinubu’s delegation includes the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and senior officials from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defence.

In his pre-summit remarks, Tinubu said Nigeria remains committed to regional peace and counter-terrorism efforts, particularly within the Lake Chad Basin and Sahel region, where insecurity continues to threaten economic stability. He is expected to deliver a speech emphasizing intelligence-sharing, arms control, and economic cooperation as tools for peace.

Diplomatic observers note that Tinubu’s attendance reaffirms Nigeria’s leadership role in Africa’s security framework and its desire to attract global support for counter-terror operations. The summit will also provide opportunities for bilateral meetings with European and Middle Eastern leaders to deepen economic and defense partnerships.
