Aliyu Audu, the Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Public Affairs, has announced his resignation from office, effective immediately. His resignation letter, dated June 8, 2025, was addressed to the President through Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila.
In the letter, Audu expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve under the Tinubu administration, describing his tenure as “an honour and privilege.” He credited his appointment to former Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, who nominated him for the role despite limited prior engagement.
Audu’s resignation comes without a publicly stated reason, prompting speculation about internal shifts within the presidency’s communications team. He was nominated on August 26, 2023, and his appointment was confirmed on October 9 of that year.
Despite stepping down, Audu pledged continued support for President Tinubu’s vision and policies, stating, “I remain deeply grateful to you, Mr. President, and I will continue to pray for the success of your administration and for the progress of our nation.”
No successor has yet been announced, and the Presidency has made no official comment on the development.
