National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Nentawe Yilwatda, says the party has activated internal conflict-resolution mechanisms to address grievances arising from its ongoing primaries across the country.
Speaking after meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Lagos, Yilwatda assured party members that all aggrieved aspirants would be reconciled ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He said the APC had established committees dedicated to resolving disputes and preventing post-primary disagreements from escalating into major crises. According to him, the party had already commenced what he described as an “early healing process” to unite members and strengthen preparations for future campaigns.
Yilwatda described the primaries as the most competitive in Nigeria’s political history, noting that thousands of aspirants had contested for limited positions under the APC platform nationwide.
He maintained that the process remained largely peaceful and organised despite isolated complaints, adding that the party strictly followed its guidelines on consensus arrangements and direct primaries.
The APC chairman also revealed that President Tinubu expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the primaries, particularly the logistics and reduced number of incidents recorded during the exercise.
Yilwatda thanked the President for supporting the party’s National Working Committee and efforts to enforce internal regulations aimed at sustaining unity within the ruling party.
