BAUCHI ELECTORAL COMMISSION CHAIR ALHAJI HARDAWA DIES AFTER BRIEF ILLNESS

Alhaji Ahmed Makama Hardawa, Chairman of the Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC), died in Abuja on July 29, 2025, after a brief illness. A former Resident Electoral Commissioner in Taraba and Nasarawa States, he was widely respected for his integrity, diligence, and commitment to democratic governance .
Governor Bala Mohammed described the death as a “profound tragedy,” paying tribute to Hardawa’s lasting contributions to transparent electoral processes at the grassroots level. His final official duty was supervising the Shira LGA by-election in May.
Condolences poured in from government officials, colleagues, and the general public, particularly from the Hardawa and Misau Emirate Councils. The governor prayed for peace for the departed soul and comfort for his grieving family.
