PETER OBI ACCUSES TINUBU’S ADMINISTRATION OF MANIPULATING ECONOMIC DATA TO MASK CRISIS

Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has accused President Tinubu’s government of using erroneous statistics to mislead Nigerians about the country’s economic condition, characterising it as deliberate deception.
On his X platform, Obi slammed the administration for presenting inaccurate data on unemployment, inflation, and GDP growth—arguing that the figures mask rising hunger and poverty. He recalled Tinubu’s 2022 campaign remark dismissing statistics as irrelevant to everyday poverty.
“Governance requires competence, integrity, and compassion—not spin,” Obi stated, lamenting Nigeria’s descent into food insecurity and socioeconomic distress. He reaffirmed his vision that “A new Nigeria is possible,” calling for honest leadership and policy rooted in data-driven action
