The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom has disassociated itself from the recent national convention in Ibadan, describing it as “ill-fated and unlawful.” The state chapter, led by Aniekan Akpan, also commended INEC for boycotting the event.

In a statement by Publicity Secretary Edwin Ebiese, the chapter said it would not recognize a convention that ignored two subsisting court judgments, including one halting the gathering due to non-compliance with party rules.

Ebiese urged members to remain focused, noting that the outcomes of the Ibadan convention are already sub judice at the Court of Appeal.
