Gov Eno empowers 55 constituents with business grants, promises massive infrastructure push

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has empowered 55 constituents in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area with business grants totalling several millions of naira, as part of an economic uplift programme designed to strengthen household income and support small enterprises.

The event, held at his country home in Ikot Ekpene Udo, drew a large crowd of supporters, stakeholders, and political leaders across the state. Each beneficiary, drawn from the 11 wards of the area, received a cheque of ₦500,000 to invest in legitimate small businesses of their choice.

Governor Eno said the gesture is part of a sustained empowerment drive that will run periodically to accommodate more beneficiaries across the LGA. He urged recipients to “use the funds judiciously,” adding that the initiative aims to boost family livelihoods and community development.

Reaffirming his commitment to infrastructural expansion, the Governor announced that several roads within Nsit Ubium have already been approved for immediate construction, with accompanying solar street lighting.

The empowerment event attracted prominent personalities, including State Executive Council members, national and state lawmakers, local government chairmen, and industry leaders, many of whom donated additional funds to support the programme.

Local Government Chairman, Mr Alfred Charles, thanked the Governor for the home-coming empowerment drive and pledged full support for the ARISE Agenda and the Governor’s re-election in 2027.

Political leaders including Senator Aniekan Bassey, Hon. Otobong Bob, and Senator Effiong Bob praised Governor Eno’s leadership style and assured him of continued support for both his administration and President Tinubu.

A highlight of the gathering was the testimony of a young graduate whose life was transformed following a chance encounter with Governor Eno five years ago.
