U.S., Egypt, and Gulf ALLIES forge historic ALLIANCE to oversee GAZA RECONSTRUCTION

A group of Arab and Islamic states has pledged support for a United States-led “Board of Peace” aimed at overseeing the next phase of the Gaza peace process, in an initiative anchored at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos. The announcement came as U.S. President Donald Trump met with Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sisi and other foreign ministers to broaden international backing for the effort.

The Board of Peace, a mechanism linked to the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire and reconstruction plan, is designed to provide governance support, stabilization, and administration in the Gaza Strip under the authority of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803. It forms part of a broader diplomatic push to institutionalise peace and development in the territory after years of conflict.

Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates announced their intention to join the Board of Peace following invitations from the United States, with each state undertaking their respective legal procedures to formalise participation.

Egypt’s acceptance of the invitation reflects a strategic alignment with U.S. efforts to deepen cooperation on the Gaza plan, including reinforcing the current ceasefire, facilitating humanitarian aid, and supporting reconstruction initiatives. President el-Sisi subsequently praised international action to halt hostilities and alleviated humanitarian suffering in Gaza during related panels at Davos.

The multinational endorsement of the peace body comes amid ongoing debates about the future governance of Gaza, and efforts to move beyond emergency truce arrangements toward durable stability. While support for the board’s mission was emphasised by those joining, reactions from some global actors remain cautious, with concerns about how the initiative aligns with existing United Nations mechanisms and long-term regional dynamics.
